I have been thinking of ways to interpret the recollections of a tank gunner/commander into my wargames. Here are my thoughts so far:

  1. Visibility of enemy.  All elements of the same group (platoon or troop) will be aware of any enemy spotted or hit by any other element of that group unless a 1 is rolled. If 1 is rolled each element will continue its previous path or orders.
  2. Combined orders.  All elements of the same group (platoon or troop) will combine fire on a single spotted target unless a 1 is rolled.  If 1 is rolled the element will fire at the nearest visible enemy (reporting fire) or continue its previous path or orders.
  3. Report hit.  Any element within Line of Sight of a hit friendly or enemy element will report it to the next level above and await orders.  If a 1 is rolled the report is not received.
  4. Elements which have spotted an enemy will automatically fire and then take a defensive position and report to the next level above.  They will not move again without orders.  If a 1 is rolled the report is not received.
  5. Orders may be issued to a specific element or group of elements.  If a 1 is rolled (for each receiving element) the order is not received.

These are only ideas, thrown out to those who wish to complicate their games.
