Eighty years on – progress report

I am falling behind with my day by day reports and gaming of the Second World War, but will catch up during September.

My “Cunning Plan” to revamp and rework the way I play the game has backfired somewhat. I’m sure it will be great when I finish the restructuring, but I have come up against an obstacle, which is the sheer size of the Soviet forces and lack of detailed data before mid-1941. I know there were an estimated 2,900,000 men under arms and I know the size of the navy, and a total number of aircraft.

I have worked out a method of random deployment around the 33 cities of the USSR and its new territories and I am updating the database. Then I need to put the forces on the map with their detailed notes. All this is taking longer than expected, and my computer crashing after three hours of work did not help.

Moral: Save your work frequently and note what you have saved.

Back soon.

…and I keep looking out of the window at work that needs to be done in the garden before Autumn/Fall begins to bite…
