NHS under pressure

I understand that the British National Health Service is under pressure from the Coronavirus.

But I just found out that a good friend has just had his cancer treatment postponed.

In my opinion this is unacceptable. Why should existing, possibly terminal, cases be sidelined for this disease that is only fatal for an undiagnosed minority?
