Eighty years on. 4th February 1940

Finland. Soviet artillery, aircraft and tanks bombarded Finnish positions in the Summa gap but the infantry only advanced on Summa village.   North of Lake Lagoda, a Siberian ski battalion attacked Finnish 9th division near Kuhmo.  Finnish IV Corps completed the destruction of the West Lemetti defences, capturing a number of tanks, guns and small arms.

Helsinki was bombed, killing 14 and injuring 179 more.

U-37 torpedoed the Norwegian SS Hop south of the Shetlands. U-37 later sank the British SS Leo Dawson east of the Shetlands.

After two days of talks, the Balkan Pact issued a 7-point communiqué indicating that it would remain neutral.

The United States and Saudi Arabia established full diplomatic relations for the first time.

Game day 157. Germany

Germany collected ten Industrial Resource Points.  6 new submarines were launched at Wismar on the Baltic coast.

The two submarines in the North-East Atlantic sailed east-south-east to the Bay of Biscay.

The two warships off the coast of West Africa sailed west-north-west into the central south Atlantic sea area.
