After weeks of artillery bombardment, The 2nd Battle of Summa began.  Soviet forces launched an all-out assault on the Karelian Isthmus.

Japan passed a budget devoting half the national finances to weapons and training.  In China communist leader Mao Tse tung called on the USA to take a stand against Japan.

U-13 sank the Swedish steamer SS Fram at anchor in Aberdour Bay, Scotland.  U-59 sank the British coaler MV Ellen M East of Southwold, Suffolk.

In Britain a First World War veteran committed suicide after being rejected for military service because of his age.

Game day 154. USSR

The USSR collected a total of 29 Industrial resource Points.  Six squadrons of bomber aircraft were deployed near Moscow.

In occupied Finland six battalions of infantry were moved north-west towards the border with Norway in case of British or French troops coming to the aid of Finland.
