4th September 1939

In my long-awaited resumption of World War Two in 6mm, the first Polish activation.

The Polish army counterattacks the Germans after three days in defence.

I started this game a few days ago, but after one turn realised that I had misinterpreted the rules that I wrote!

So I reset and started again.

Initially the Poles had some success. Their field artillery (75mm guns) spotted enemy infantry in the woods to the centre and opened fire. No damage was done, but when the Germans were then subjected to small arms fire after the artillery attack they were thrown into confusion.

The Polish commander then ordered a general advance. The units on the left flank did not receive the order, and in the absence of any acknowledgment the CO moved towards that flank to find out what the problem was.

The German artillery now opened fire at Polish infantry who were moving into the village only 500 yards to their front. This company was also disoriented by the artillery fire.

In the centre the German CO launched his light tanks and armoured cars. The armoured car company skirmished with an enemy infantry company which had been shelled by the PzIV platoon.

The Polish infantry fell back in good order.

The German CO moved to the woods in the centre to rally the infantry company there.
