Great Britain increased the compulsory maximum age of military conscription for men to 27.  The liability to conscription remained at 41.  Fifty women resigned from the Auxiliary Fire Service after being ordered to scrub floors.

Rail links between France and Spain were re-opened after more than three years closure.

The USSR recalled its ambassador from Rome after anti-Soviet protests in the city.

All countries collected their monthly resource points.

The escorted convoy from the USA arrived at Liverpool.   The other convoy at sea head for the Suez Canal.

Britain deployed six squadrons of bombers in England.
