German mines damaged the cruiser HMS Belfast and sank a Japanese liner, the Terukuni Maru. British Prime Minister Chamberlain announced that German shipping would be seized in retaliation.
3rd Infantry Corps attacked 3rd Japanese Infantry Corps while 4th and 5th Infantry Corps continued to march eastwards. The Japanese lost 1 battalion and the second retreated.
